The Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense attacked the Pervyi Zavod (First Plant) oil refinery in Russia's Kaluga Oblast, a source within military intelligence told NV on May 10.

HUR used drones to strike the refinery, damaging the AVBT-101 atmospheric vacuum tube installation, three diesel fuel tanks, and one oil tank.

Russian Telegram channels reported powerful explosions in the Dzerzhinsky district, followed by the distinctive sounds of drones overhead and smoke and fire in the area on May 10.

Kaluga Governor Vladislav Shapsha later confirmed that a drone crash caused the fire at the plant. According to Shapsha, there were no casualties.

First Plant LLC is Kaluga Oblast’s largest petrochemical enterprise, located in the village of Polotnyany Zavod. The plant processes commercial oil and gas condensate.

This refinery was also targeted by drones on March 15. Kaluga is about 350 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
