Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has celebrated the final episode of his BBC travel series in a sweet message.

The pro dancer co-hosted Anton & Giovanni's Adventures in Spain with Strictly judge Anton Du Beke, a follow-up to their first collaboration on Anton & Giovanni's Adventures in Sicily.

"Another amazing journey with my best friend @mrantondubeke come to the end tonight at 8pm on @bbcone!" Pernice wrote on Instagram on April 1.

"Last episode of our latest tv series! Thank you so much for watching and if you missed you can still catch up on @bbciplayer. Question… where next?" the ballroom dancer continued, teasing there may be more travel shenanigans in the duo's future.

Pernice appeared on the latest season of Strictly with celebrity partner Amanda Abbington.

The Mr Selfridge actress withdrew from the competition during week five, citing "medical reasons" amidst rumours of a row with Pernice.

Later on, reports suggested Abbington was seeking copies of footage from rehearsals with Pernice with a view to taking legal action after being diagnosed with PTSD following the show.

Pernice hasn't commented directly on the incident, but thanked everyone who's reached out to support him in January.

"One week today we open Let Me Entertain You. We're working hard but [it] is going to be epic," he began, referencing his live tour. "I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has sent messages of support – I really truly appreciate it – thank you thank you thank you."

While Abbington has not publicly spoken on the reports, a BBC spokesperson said in a statement: "The BBC offers a comprehensive range of support to all individuals taking part in our shows. Strictly Come Dancing has always taken duty of care incredibly seriously and there is a constant dialogue between senior members of the production team and the contestants to ensure any concerns are addressed swiftly.

"Strictly has a proud track record as a joyful, positive experience where robust support and assistance is always made available at every stage of the production."

Anton & Giovanni's Adventures in Spain airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Tickets for Strictly's 2024 live arena tour are available now.
