Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley has torn an intercostal muscle behind a rib in training, it’s been confirmed.

According to The Sun, she will have to take two days off to rest, meaning she will miss out on vital rehearsal time.

But in an Instagram post from her hospital bed, she confirmed that she will be able to perform on Saturday night.

Her agent said: “It’s very painful. She is strapped up and the doctor has said she should be able to move in a couple of days.”

It comes after the 31-year-old documentary maker posted a cryptic picture on her Instagram page, featuring a woman in an upper body plaster cast.

The caption didn’t help clarify matters either, Dooley describing the picture as her ‘current sitch’, with a bandaged head emoji.

Fans were quick in leaping to the worst conclusion.

“Oh no….you broken something?” asked one. “Did Kevin drop you?” added another.

Her dance this week is certainly a more physical routine than most, with partner Kevin Clifton choreographing a streetdance in the new ‘couple’s choice’ category.

And with two days out of her rehearsal time, it’ll find Dooley at a distinct disadvantage.

Dooley stunned judges yet again with her tango to the Doctor Who theme tune last week, in which she took on some of the traditionally male dance moves.

She scored an eight and three nines, landing her in joint second place with Joe Sugg and Dianne, while Faye Tozer and Giovanni, and Ashley Roberts and Pasha found themselves joint first with scores of 39.
