Stream Jidenna The Chief

By Tom Breihan

Today, Jidenna — the fascinating rap/R&B hybrid-beast and Janelle Monáe protege who had a hit with “Classic Man” a couple of years ago — finally releases The Chief, his debut album. It’s a sharp and layered piece of work, one that pulls in influence from all over: Nigerian Afrobeats club-pop, politically-driven backpack rap, melodically rich Atlanta trap music. And it’s our current reigning Album Of The Week. We’ve already posted a good number of the album’s tracks: “Long Live The Chief,” “Little Bit More,” “Chief Don’t Run,” “The Let Out,” “Bambi.” And now that the album is out, you can finally use Spotify to stream the whole thing below.

The Chief is out 2/17 on Wondaland/Epic.
