Stranger Things: The First Shadow, the prequel play to the hit Netflix series, looks to be heading for Broadway following its West End debut.

According to Broadway World, Equity casting notices were posted on Thursday (March 7) seeking actors and stage managers for a Broadway transfer with a 2025 start date.

Production is said to be holding principal auditions in New York City later this month, with video submissions now open for prospective cast and crew members.

The news comes after Louis McCartney, who plays Henry Creel in the show's London production, recently spoke to Deadline about a possible move to the Big Apple.

"Broadway is an exciting conversation. Obviously everybody's talking about it, and I'd be more than chuffed to do it," he said.

"But the thing is, the future holds a million possibilities. And there's some that I can't decide on. There's things that the third party will decide. And I'm just kind of open to everything."

Directed by Stephen Daldry and executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, the anticipated theatre production began at London's Phoenix Theatre in December 2023.

As well as McCartney, the play also stars Christopher Buckley as Bob Newby, Oscar Lloyd as James Hopper Jr, Ella Karuna Williams as Patty Newby and Isabella Pappas as Joyce Maldonado.

"Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper's car won't start, Bob Newby's sister won't take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town," a synopsis for the production reads.

"When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn't so easy... and the shadows of the past have a very long reach."
