Stranger Things guest star Linda Hamilton has revealed that she won’t be watching the final season of the show.

The Terminator star has joined the Netflix show for its fifth and final season, though her role is currently undisclosed as plot details have remained under wraps.

Despite being a self-confessed fan of the sci-fi show, Hamilton revealed to Us Weekly that she wouldn’t be watching the conclusion of the series, citing her inability to watch herself on-screen.

“When you really buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it," she said. "So I think in a way, it kind of ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project], once I’m in something. It would just completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So I won’t be watching [season 5].”

Whilst Hamilton may not watch the final season, she did also speak of her experience with the Netflix show, recalling: “I Zoomed [creators] Ross and Matt Duffer, and they gave me the shape of the character, but not of the story.

"Because they have to be very careful with their story. So I still don’t know how it ends. And it takes a lot of discipline to not know where it’s going to go. But that’s to protect it from all of the people that want to know.”

“I don’t share, but I’m having a really good time… I have friends now that will text me and go, ‘Where are you? Or you can’t say?’ But that’s out of respect and love for the Duffer brothers.”

She added: “I do get to be there for table reads and watch it unfold and be part of it. I’m thrilled to be part of it. But I just never, ever saw that one coming. It is different when you’re a fan of the show to sort of go, ‘Well, how do I fit?’ But we’re working on it. It’s good. It’s really good.”

The fifth season is currently due to premiere in 2025 following several delays, with director Shawn Levy saying the episodes will be huge in scale, telling Total Film: “There's no way to be contiguous with season four, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth.”

“It's major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see,” he added.

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
