CHEBOYGAN — The Straits Area Community Foundation (SACF) recently approved four grants totaling $3,058 during its spring round of Youth Advisory Council (YAC) grants.

The Straits Area YAC awards grant funding to support projects and programs directly benefiting youth and projects important to youth.

  • Church of the Straits received $1,000 to purchase food and supplies for their food pantry.

  • Wolverine Community Schools received a $900 grant for specialized equipment for students to learn about rockhounding, fossils, gold panning, metal detecting and lapidary crafts.

  • Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity was awarded $708 for a family-friendly day that provide hands-on activities and learning experiences for children.

  • Cheboygan Area Schools received a $405 grant for a “Class of ’24 Evening of Memories” event.

The next opportunity for submitting grant applications is through SACF’s Community Impact Grant. The application deadline is June 1, 2024. Applications are available at sacf.net.
