The Stow-Munroe Falls school board will be searching for a new board member after one member resigned on Monday afternoon, effective immediately.

Jon Leissler, whose term expires Jan. 1, 2026, was first voted in to the school board in the November 2021 election.

"None of us saw it coming," said Nancy Binzel, school board president. "I will miss him terribly. He's a good person. I really liked working with him."

Leissler could not be reached for comment.

Binzel said that the school board needs to appoint a new member to fill the unexpired term in 30 days. Under the district's rules, the school board will meet with all candidates who apply.

This will not impact the timeline for the search and hiring of the district's new superintendent, Binzel added.
