Rose-Tinted Glasses
I’ve returned from Greece, with my shoe soles worn down and my stomach stuffed with grape leaves. I did have 1000+ emails waiting for me upon my return, but it was very much worth it for this view:
Right Frame of Mind
GUCCI WOMEN’S BURGUNDY AND RED GLASSES
MAMUN NO. 2
VINTAGE PILASTRO WIRE METAL CAT LETTER HOLDER
I’ve regarded the recent Bayonetta glasses trend with a mixture of longing and suspicion. The sexy librarian/office siren/Devil Wears Prada receptionist look has been all over my feed lately, and as a 24/7 glasses-wearer, I feel like I’m especially susceptible to the delusion that switching up your frames has some sort of transformative glow-up power. On the other hand, these red square frames look near-identical to a pair of Snow White-branded glasses that I picked out in second grade, and also I am not Bella Hadid, so I feel like the result would end up being less “Miu Miu it-girl” and more “Girl Scout Brownie.” Should I go for it? Or am I simply doomed to fall into the age-old bangs trap? (I am also thinking about getting bangs 🫣.)
Bite the Biscuit
Every time I scrolled by a Studio Kallang post on Instagram, a Pavlovian response would overtake me and I would begin to salivate. I couldn’t quite put my finger on why, until it hit me — all their furniture has a very biscuit-y quality. This chest looks just like Swedish schackrutor; this stool could be mistaken for a stack of gingersnaps. These side tables are especially reminiscent of the Petit Ecolier chocolate biscuits that my dad would bring home from work, with their dark center square surrounded by lacy, scalloped edges.
Letter of the Law
During lockdown I got really into old-fashioned letter writing, because what else is there to do when you’re stuck at home all day? At one point I had five different correspondences going. I’ve fallen off now that I have things to do and people to see (apologies to my old pen pals!), but I’d like to get back into it. Partly because it’s fun, writing by hand and collecting cute stationery and receiving something other than pre-approved credit card offers in the mail, and partly so I can have an excuse to buy this cat-shaped letter holder, which looks as if he’s got very adorably angry eyebrows. Would anyone like to be pen pals with me?? 🥺
Rest assured everything I write about is 100% something I discovered myself and love on my own terms :) thanks for stopping by and going shopping with me!
