Storm Tracker Shoutout: Maize Central Elementary School

The countdown to summer is on and students are ready for it but not before having a discussion about severe weather and storm safety. Today I took Storm Tracker 3 to Maize Central Elementary School.

Check out this awesome group of second graders. Just about every hand went up when I asked if they were scared of tornadoes. We talked about the best places to go to stay safe if Maize gets put under a tornado warning. We also went over flooding, lightning, hail formation and why the wind blows.

They also took note of the cumulus clouds that look like cotton balls that blossomed this afternoon. I told them how they formed and to watch what happens later this evening because they will disappear.

They also checked out Storm Tracker 3 and why we use it in the field to keep them safe from severe storms.

Thank you, Maize Central Elementary School for having me out.
