Storm Takes the Lives of Three Fisherman on ‘Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove’

Tragedy struck on Tuesday’s episode of Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove, which recounted when a major storm hit the Oregon coast back in January, claiming the lives of three fishermen. As the bad weather moved in, every boat was on high alert. “I got one eye watching the waves, one eye steering the boat,” said Marc Sehlbach, captain of the Galway Bay. “If we get hit by one wave wrong, this boat will roll right over.” Thankfully, the Galway Bay and others were able to weather the storm.

The crew of the Eagle III took their chances and paid the price. The boat went down, but miraculously its captain, Glenn Burkhow, who survived and made it to shore. The coast guard was able to recover one of the bodies but called off the search for the other two. A sad reminder to everyone in the fishing community about how dangerous their line of work can be.

Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on Discovery.
