Storm reports: Severe thunderstorm watch issued for counties along Kansas/Nebraska state line

NEBRASKA (KSNW) — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for several counties along the Kansas/Nebraska state line that will be in effect until 4 a.m. on Friday.

Counties included in the watch that are in the KSN viewing area include:

Kansas

  • Rawlins

  • Decatur

  • Norton

  • Phillips

  • Smith

Nebraska

  • Hitchcock

  • Red Willow

  • Furnas

Storm Track 3 Forecast: A few severe storms tonight, more storms Saturday

KSN Chief Meteorologist Lisa Teachman and Meteorologist Ronnell Williams were tracking storm reports across the KSN viewing area Thursday evening and early Friday morning.

  • Constructed house has mostly collapsed – 3 N McCook – Red Willow County, NE

  • Quarter-sized hail – 7 ENE Bartley – Red Willow County, NE

11:28 p.m.

  • 58 MPH wind – Logan

  • 60 MPH wind – Norton

  • Tornado – 3 W Culbertson – Still picture of the tornado ¼ mile west of Perry grain. Crossed Highway. Tree branches broken.

10:56 p.m.

  • Quarter-inch hail – 4 SW Bartley, Red Willow County, NE

10:48 p.m.

  • Tornado – Trees and power poles taken down – Trenton, Hitchcock County, NE

10:46 p.m.

  • 59 MPH winds – 7 NE Oberlin, Decatur County

10:40 p.m.

  • 58 MPH wind – Logan

10:37 p.m.

  • ​Report – deputy director for Hitchcock County is heading to the west side of Trenton. There is a report that the roof of their grandstand was torn off.

  • Tennis ball size hail report – one mile east of Swanson Reservoir Dam…one or two miles southwest of Trenton.

  • Report of power getting knocked out in Wallace due to the winds with the cold front.

10:24 p.m.

  • Quarter to half dollar size hail – McCook

  • Power pole down – 7 miles west of Atwood on Highway 36

10:23 p.m.

  • Half-dollar size hail – Red Willow

9:53 p.m.

  • 59 MPH wind gust – Goodland

9:24 p.m.

  • 62 MPH wind gust – 8 N Benkelman, Dundy County, NE

9:21 p.m.

  • Irrigation pivot flipped 6 NNW Stratton, Hitchcock County, NE

9:16 p.m.

  • 60 MPH winds and golf ball size hail in Trenton, NE

8:58 p.m.

  • Tornado reported near Stratton in Hitchcock County, NE

7:51 p.m.

  • Quarter-size hail – El Dorado
