Storage building burns in Murrysville

Jul. 9—A metal equipment storage building at a Murrysville farm was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon.

No one was injured in the fire at the farm on Hills Church Road, but several farm vehicles were inside the building when it caught fire, said John Bohince, chief of the White Valley fire department in Murrysville. The property on the Bassett Highlands Plan is owned by William Weir, according to the Westormoreland County tax map.

The building was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene, Bohince said. The chief said that a passerby called Westmoreland County 911 when they saw smoke coming from the building.

The cause of the fire, which was reported at about 2:15 p.m., was not determined, Bohince said.

White Valley firefighters were assisted at the scene units from Harrison City, Export, Murrysville, Washington Township and Sardis, as well as Murrysville Medic One.
