Stop Everything: Chip and Joanna Are Getting a New Show on HGTV
If you've ever wondered exactly how Joanna Gaines does it all when it comes to designing new homes for clients, you're about to find out.
HGTV is giving Joanna Gaines another television series, which will premiere this year, the network announced this week. The new half-hour Fixer Upper spinoff series, Behind the Design, will showcase her design process and give fans an even closer look at her inspiration and decisions in each project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Joanna announced the news to her fans on Instagram in this video with Chip. "We get a lot of questions about the designs, and how we get from point A to point Z when it comes to these houses and projects from a design standpoint," Joanna told fans in the video. "So we have a new series coming out this year, which focuses on each project and you get more inside scoop on how we came up with a lot of the design decisions and elements we got to incorporate."
Fans will get a sneak peak of the new television series during the season 4 finale of Fixer Upper, which airs this Tuesday, March 28 at 9 p.m. EST. And that's not the only exciting HGTV news-the parent company, Scripps Networks Interactive, also announced the addition of five new Flip or Flop spinoffs to their lineup.
Each spinoff will follow a couple as they flip homes in their city. The shows will be just like the original, except they'll take place in cities like Las Vegas, Atlanta, Fort Worth, Texas, Nashville, and Chicago. After Tarek and Christina El Moussa announced their divorce this year, this is the first time the network has announced future plans regarding the show.
"The tremendous, consistent ratings success of the original Flip or Flop with Tarek and Christina El Moussa inspired us to take a new look at house flipping programming," Allison Page, the Scripps' U.S. programming and development general manager said. "We saw an opportunity to highlight what works in other regions by featuring successful couples that had mastered the art of flipping in their town."
And with the addition of exciting new shows like Home Town and My Flippin' Friends, it looks like 2017 is going to be a big year for the network.
