Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have found and returned tropical fish stolen from an Ottawa Valley restaurant last week.

The fish were taken from the Beachburg Restaurant in an overnight break-in on April 11, OPP said. An undisclosed amount of cash was also stolen.

The owner of the restaurant told CBC after the theft that she wasn't sure how many fish were taken from the restaurant's aquarium, but that there were "a lot of them" including clownfish.

Police said the owner valued the fish at several thousand dollars.

On Friday afternoon, police executed a warrant at a residence in Whitewater Region where they located the fish.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with breaking and entering, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He's scheduled to appear in court in Pembroke on June 3.
