Stolen Porsches worth $500,000 driven through showroom windows, California police say
Accused burglars drove two Porsches worth $500,000 through the showroom windows at a dealership to steal the high-end sports cars, California police reported.
The thefts of a GT3 and GT3 RS took place at 12:45 a.m. April 4, the Fremont Police Department said in a May 8 news release.
Officers found the Porsche GT3 RS abandoned in Milpitas a few hours later, police said.
On April 5, investigators spotted the Porsche GT3 traveling on surveillance cameras, police said.
Hours of surveillance identified the driver of the stolen Porsche as a 22-year-old Hayward man, police said.
He was arrested on charges including burglary, vehicle theft, conspiracy and being a felon in possession of a firearm, police said.
Police are still seeking the other accused thief. They ask anyone with information to contact detectives at adennis@fremont.gov or at 510-790-6900.
Fremont is about a 45-miles drive southeast from San Francisco.
