Stolen Mercedes found, 9-month-old inside is safe, police said
Des Moines police have found the stolen Mercedes-Benz with a 9-month-old child in it Friday afternoon.
The baby is healthy and well, police spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek said.
The car was described as a black 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL 350 with Iowa State University license plates.
It was found by locating the signal of a phone left in the stolen vehicle, according to a release from the Des Moines Police Department.
The car was stolen in the 2300 block of Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines and it didn't get far — it was found abandoned in a parking lot in the 2700 block of Ingersoll Avenue. The release said police found the suspect in an apartment building on the same block.
Des Moines Police Department detectives arrested a Des Moines man in connection with this investigation. He will be held at the Polk County jail, according to the release.
The investigation is ongoing.
