(KTXL) — Stockton Kings head coach Lindsey Harding has been named the winner of the 2023-24 G League Coach of the Year Award.

Harding becomes the first woman to win the award after leading Stockton to the league’s best record, 24-10, and the top seed in the western conference. Head coaches and general managers of the NBA G League voted for the award.

Harding, who became the G League’s first Black female head coach when she was hired last June, took over in Stockton when Bobby Jackson left to join the Philadelphia 76ers coaching staff.

Harding spent four seasons as an assistant coach/player development coach in Sacramento before being named the head coach of the Kings’ G League affiliate.

Prior to her coaching career, Lindsey Harding was a standout player at Duke from 2002-2007. She then went on to play in the WNBA for nine years.

The Stockton Kings clinched a first-round bye in the G League playoffs. They will host either Salt Lake City or Santa Cruz on Thursday night.
