Winners and losers

Stocks in the red today include Western Digital as Toshiba and Bain Capital begin a deal to sell Toshiba’s memory unit, a business Wester Digital was bidding on, Mallinckrodt as Mizuho downgraded it to ‘neutral’ claiming the drugmaker was under threat from competition and other factors, and Equifax – shares tumbling again as the credit agency taking more heat for its bungled response to a massive hack, now with over 36 senators calling for an investigation.

Stocks in the green today include Centene as the insurer struck a deal to buy Fidelis Care, thus expanding Centene’s coverage in New York State, Finish Line as Susquehanna upgraded shares to ‘positive’ citing merger possibilities, and Nordstrom – shares jumping on reports the Nordstrom family is near a deal to take the retailer private with PE firm Leonard Green.
