Stevensville man arrested after Sunday fatal shooting in Baroda Township

BARODA TWP. ― David Mabry, 60, of Stevensville, was arraigned Monday on a murder and weapons charge following the shooting death Sunday of a 57-year-old Baroda Township woman.

According to the Niles Post of the Michigan State Police, the victim was sitting on her backyard patio with her husband when Mabry, who they know, stopped by. Without any visible provocation, the suspect pulled a handgun from his pocket and shot the victim.

A brief struggle between the victim’s husband and the suspect took place, resulting in the disarming of the suspect, who then left the scene in a vehicle. After a search by authorities, he was located and arrested without incident.

Unable to post bond, Mabry remains in the Berrien County Jail. The case has been handed over to the country prosecutor.
