Original Story:

Stephen Craig Paddock is the 64-year-old white man who is the suspected shooter in the mass killing in Las Vegas Sunday night.

The gunman opened fire on a country music concert from across the street at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. Police stormed his room on the 32nd floor of the hotel. Paddock had killed himself by the time police had gotten in, according to the Associated Press. At least eight guns, including long guns, were found in the room, according to CNN.

At least 50 were killed and 200 injured in what is the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. It surpassed the last deadliest shooting, which occurred last year at an Orlando, Florida, nightclub. Forty-nine people were killed.

Police believe Paddock acted alone. He was from Mesquite, Nevada, which is located around 80 miles away from Las Vegas.

Paddock was traveling with a female companion, Marilou Danley, that police had asked for the public’s assistance in finding her, before tweeting out this morning that they“located the female person of interest.”

There were approximately 22,000 concert goers at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when the shooting took place. Country singer Jason Aldean was performing. More than 400 people were taken to area hospitals, according to Las Vegas Police. Two Las Vegas police were injured in the incident, and one off-duty officer was killed who was attending the concert. His name is being withheld until his family can be reached and notified.

Police are still investigating both Paddock and the incident.
