Stephen Curry on Daughter Riley: She’s Become the ‘Star’ of Our Family

Stephen Curry became almost as well-known for his family life as for his record-breaking basketball career last May when daughter Riley, now 3, stole the show at a post-game press conference.

In an interview alongside wife Ayesha in the June issue of Parents magazine, Curry reveals just how that adorable moment went down.

“Riley wanted to hang out with me. She had that look, like she wasn’t going to take no for an answer,” he says. “She sat up there, and that’s when her personality shined bright. … She’s got a great sense of humor.”

Since then, according to Curry, she’s become “the star of the family.”

“If we go somewhere without her, the first question people ask us is, ‘Where’s Riley?’ ” the Golden State Warriors player, 28, says.

Ayesha, who has an upcoming cooking show on the Food Network and is releasing a cookbook this fall, reveals that she’s still surprised by how much work goes into raising Riley and their second daughter, 9-month-old Ryan.

“The amount of stuff you get done in a day is insane,” she says. “Like, what were we doing with our time before kids?”

Ayesha, 27, adds: “It’s an event to get all four of us out of the house at once. When we get in the car and we’ve brought everything and everybody has socks on, it’s like a dream come true.”

Another dream come true for this busy mom? Co-parenting with Stephen.

“The thing I love about him is that he’s not too cool for school,” Ayesha says. “He’ll get down on the floor and play with the girls. He’ll put on dress-up clothes if he has to, and he’s very patient, which is something I’m not. We balance each other out.”

And although Stephen would love to keep expanding their family — “He’d have three more kids right now if he could,” Ayesha says — for now, he’s perfectly content to watch Riley and Ryan grow up.

“I think about the milestones from my childhood, and what it will be like to watch our kids go through them,” Stephen says. “Taking Riley to her first day of school was a whirlwind. I can’t imagine what middle school is going to be like, and high school, and graduation.”

He continues: “All those little checkpoints are going to be fun, and there will be ups and downs along the way. Watching our children go through those life experiences will be amazing.”
