Stephen Colbert rips into defenders of Trump's child separation policy

The Trump administration's forcible separation of children from their families at the border has seen its share of defenders in recent days, especially people who think these detention centres aren't that bad.

In his opening monologue on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert took aim at these people, with the likes of Department of Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and Trump advisor Stephen Miller in his sights.

"Trump's defenders are wrong and they are bad, but it's important to give the devil his due. He's a sponsor," Colbert said, before launching into another segment called "The Devil's Advocate."

"The prison. Is that really the worst place for kids? I mean, have you been to a Chuck E Cheese?" he added.
