CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Panthers are acquiring Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson Tuesday, according to NFL sources.

Reports say Panthers are sending cornerback Donte Jackson to the Steelers, and the teams are swapping late-round draft picks. The Panthers will send the Steelers a sixth-rounder (178th overall) and will get a seventh-rounder (240th) back.

Headed to Pittsburgh, Jackson was a second-round pick for the Panthers in 2018. He registered 14 career interceptions, but had none in 16 games last season.

The team reports that 27-year-old Johnson has one year left on his existing contract. He was drafted in 2019 out of Toledo.

Johnson caught 51 passes for 717 yards last year for the Steelers, but he caught 86, 107 and 88 passes the previous three seasons. The Panthers had one just one player — Adam Thielen — with more than 600 receiving yards last season.

The 5-foot-10, 183-pound Johnson gives them another weapon for quarterback Bryce Young, after they spent Monday acquiring offensive guards Robert Hunt (Dolphins) and Damien Lewis (Seahawks).
