Statesville Avenue ramps along I-77 in north Charlotte closed for up to two weeks

Two busy ramps in north Charlotte are closed, impacting traffic in the area for several days.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation closed the exit ramps from I-77 North (exit 13A) and I-85 North (exit 39) to Statesville Avenue at 9 p.m. on Friday. The closures will be in place until 6 a.m. April 11.

The work is part of a $15.3 million contract awarded last June to improve approximately seven miles of I-85 between exits 36 and 42.

The NCDOT will close the exit ramps from I-77 North (exit 13A) and I-85 North (exit 39) to Statesville Avenue from March 25 to April 11.

The following detours will be in place for drivers:

- I-77 North/South: Take exit 12 (LaSalle Street) to access Statesville Avenue.

- I-85 North: Take exit 38 (I-77), continuing south to exit 12 (LaSalle Street) to return to Statesville Avenue.

Drivers exiting from I-77 will be able to continue to I-85. Only the Statesville Avenue ramps are affected by these closures.

Alerts will be displayed on nearby overhead message boards, when possible, in addition to the contractor’s portable message signs.
