MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The State of Alabama has given notice that they will seek the death penalty against one of the suspects charged in a 2020 septuple homicide.

According to court documents, if Federic Rogers is convicted of his charges, the state says they will seek the death penalty.

In February of 2024, the prosecutors were ordered to disclose whether or not they would be seeking the death penalty against him.

Rogers and John Michael Legg were both charged with six counts of capital murder after investigators say they killed seven people in Valhermoso Springs after a dispute involving their motorcycle club known as ‘7 Deadly Sins.’ The victims ranged from 17 to 45 years old.

Both Rogers and Legg have a status hearing set for June 24.

Initially, Legg’s status hearing was set for April 2024, but it was continued by a Morgan County judge so he could complete the mental health examination he was ordered to have done by the court.

Rogers’ trial is set for August 14, 2024, however, Legg does not have a trial date at this time. It is unclear if prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Legg.
