On December 12, 2016, at 10:19 a.m., Southington and Wolcott Police Departments were in pursuit of a
vehicle being operated by a bank robbery suspect. The vehicle was pursued onto Route 8 southbound, where
Troopers deployed stop sticks across the lanes.

The suspect vehicle struck two sets of stop sticks and punctured the tires causing the vehicle operator to pull over to the right shoulder of the roadway.

The suspect exited the vehicle and ran down an embankment, through the Naugatuck River off the southbound side of the highway, and into a heavily wooded area.

Troopers pursued the suspect on foot and K-9 teams arrived to assist as Troopers and local law enforcement established a perimeter. The suspect was observed in a wooded area and was taken into custody without incident. A large amount of money was located on the suspect.
