Man drowns in Donegal Township pond

A man drowned in a Donegal Township pond Friday.

Glenn White, 58, from Rochester, drowned near 273 Rock Canyon Road at around 5 p.m.

White jumped into the pond to save an injured bird, but went under the water and did not resurface, the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office said.

White was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police are asking the public to respect the family involved and avoid any photographs from the scene. They also send their condolences to the family and friends involved.
