State Champs: Evans, North Meck defeat New Hanover 57-47 for 4A state title

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Isaiah Evans and North Meck High School were fighting for a 4A high school basketball state title this weekend against New Hanover in Winston.

The Vikings were one game shy of the state finals a year ago and had a chance this season to hang another banner in the gym. Evans was locked and loaded for his final high school game but had quite the challenge against a Wildcats team that entered the night 32-0.

The Vikings went into the locker room with a six-point lead over New Hanover.

The future Blue Devil had four triples and Evans would put with several shots that put his team up by by double digits in the fourth quarter.

The All-American Evans finished with 23 points and the Vikings completed the mission in 2024 to win the class 4A State Championship, 57-47.
