State 96 in Kaukauna will close May 20 for repaving project

KAUKAUNA - State 96 between Kaukauna and Wrightstown will be closed from May 20 through mid-July.

Over four miles of the road will be closed between Delanglade Street in Kaukauna to Lock Street in Wrightstown as construction crews prepare to replace culvert pipes, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The road will remain open for local traffic, but drivers should plan to take the detour along Interstate 41 to avoid construction.

Construction is part of a $2.6 million project to resurface State 96, repair storm sewer and culvert pipes, widen the paved shoulder and add rumble strips.

After culvert pipe replacements are finished, State 96 will be closed for an additional eight weeks between Lock Street and Broadway Street in Wrightstown for storm sewer repairs.
