Improved signage is one of the elements of a seven-point plan created by the Business and Administrative Committee to improve parking in the town.

The town will discontinue the use of physical parking kiosks for payment of metered parking spaces starting Friday, when the ParkMobile app will be the only option to pay for those spots.

In a message posted Wednesday on its website, the town said the move was made as part of ongoing improvements to its parking management program.

In May, the Town Council approved a seven-point plan to address the town's long-standing parking challenges.

The plan, which was created by the town's Business and Administrative Committee after months of discussion and input from residents and business owners, includes elements such as pre-paid parking stickers for residents, paid parking expansion using the ParkMobile app, and more free half-hour parking spaces.

"In our opinion, we've got to keep moving forward," Lew Crampton, chair of the Business and Administrative Committee, told the council. "Everybody knows that we have a problem with traffic and parking. We have come up with some ways that, while they don't solve the whole problem, they do make an appreciable dent in the issue."

Existing metered spaces within the town will continue to accept payment through the ParkMobile system, the town said.

Signage with instructions and zone numbers are located in the metered parking space areas.
