Stark County Sheriff's Office cracks the case for egg-cellent Easter fun

Apr. 3—STARK COUNTY, N.D. — The Stark County Sheriff's Office delighted families across the county with a series of Easter egg hunts, made possible through generous sponsorship from local businesses. The events, held in the cities of Belfield, Dickinson, and upcoming in Richardton, provided children of all ages with a joyful and memorable experience.

In Dickinson, the egg hunt took place on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m., inside the Prairie Hills Mall. With 22,000 eggs hidden throughout the mall, approximately 400 families eagerly participated in the festivities. Sheriff Corey Lee highlighted the inclusive nature of the event.

"Part of our vision at the department ever since I've taken over is community involvement and certainly Easter egg hunts are something that can reach every every demographic of child and family. It's a completely free event," Lee said. "We do see all walks of life at these. Certainly, it's a great event for us to bond and interact with the children and families of our community. But it's also a good event for them to intermingle with each other."

The Dickinson event was sponsored by Greed Drug Coffee Group, Prairie Hills Mall, Braun Distributing, Gate City Bank, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kind Hearts Project and the Stark County Sheriff's Office, who provided $6,000 worth of candy for all three events.

Following the Dickinson hunt, Belfield residents enjoyed their outdoor egg hunt later that same day at 2:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Stark County Association of Deputies, The American Legion and the Stark County Sheriff's Office, families reveled in the festive atmosphere.

Reflecting on their experience, Hannah Kessel, along with her husband Dominic and their children Charlotte, Kennedy, Piper and Milo, expressed their joy at the Dickinson event.

"We had a great time bringing our family to the event," She said. "It's wonderful to see the community come together and enjoy festivities."

Peggy O'Brien, General Manager of Prairie Hills Mall, noted the significance of these events in the community.

"Egg hunts the last two years had overwhelmingly large turnout because most other similar festivities in the area were canceled due to crippling mid-April snowstorms," she noted. "This year the weather was perfect at 44 degrees and sunny and we had a great turn-out."

With the success of the Belfield and Dickinson hunts, anticipation is high for the upcoming egg hunt in Richardton scheduled for April 6 at 11 a.m. The event is sponsored by Richardton Fire and Rescue, Stone Mill, Cenex C-Store, Amber Waves, the Sit-N-Bull Bar and Cookhouse, and the Stark County Sheriff's Office. Organizers are hopeful for another memorable event.
