Stark communities receive grants to upgrade public drinking water infrastructure

COLUMBUS − Seven Stark County communities have received H2Ohio Public Water System Equipment Grants to help pay for equipment needed to maintain public drinking water distribution systems, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency said.

The following local public water systems received grants:

  • Beach City, $10,000

  • Brewster, $5,400

  • Canton, $9,999.00

  • East Sparta, $9,988

  • Magnolia, $8,020

  • Minerva, $8,700

  • Stark County Water District, $5,995

The grants cover distribution system equipment such as mobile leak detectors, line locators, valve exercisers, flow meters, hydrant condition assessors, pressure monitors, and training to use the equipment.

A total of $2.2 million in H2Ohio grants will help upgrade the public drinking water infrastructure in 250 communities in 78 counties.

Public water systems were eligible to apply for up to $10,000 through H2Ohio. This is the second year that H2Ohio Public Water System Equipment Grants have been awarded. In 2023, $1 million was awarded to more than 100 communities statewide.
