Concerns of homelessness stretch Carter County’s Tweetsie Trail

A building permit filed Wednesday with the City of Johnson City shows a plan for a new, 2,540-square-foot building “for future Starbucks.” The construction value is listed at $485,000.

Rick Steele of The Steele Group told News Channel 11 Tuesday the Marietta, Ga.-based firm has secured a deal with Starbucks. He said the new store could be open around a year from now.

Starbucks’ other stand-alone stores are on North Roan Street near the Mall at Johnson City and on West State of Franklin Road, near East Tennessee State University.

News Channel 11 has also emailed Starbucks media relations requesting more information on timeline for the store’s construction and opening.

The property covers 1.26 acres and is valued at $772,700 without a building. It is owned by CO II Investments out of Lawrenceville, Ga. and is subdivided from a larger piece of property purchased for $5.3 million 2020.
