Starbucks Brings Back Smoked Butterscotch Latte

This year, every town in America is getting a little more like Hogsmeade when Butterbeer comes to Starbucks. Well, not actual Butterbeer. A Smoked Butterscotch Latte. But close enough, right? Accio caffeine!

According to a press release, this drink is "inspired by the Starbucks Reserve Roastery" and "combines espresso with steamed milk and smoked butterscotch sauce, finished with a sprinkling of smoky butterscotch topping – served hot, iced, or blended." "The smoky flavor balances the subtle sweetness of the butterscotch,” said Christal Canzler, a member of the Starbucks beverage development team. "It acts as a savory ingredient that enhances the coffee." The perfect warm beverage to sip as you marathon all eight Harry Potter movies on a wintery day.

Frequent Starbucks customers may have noticed the new Blonde Espresso advertised on bright yellow posters in stores, and of course, the butterscotch concoction comes in Blonde as well. The fan-favorite beverage has been on and off the Starbucks secret menu, something the company as good as acknowledged in a press release, which put the drink it its "third straight year!" But only for a limited time.

Also new to stores, per the Starbucks Newsroom, is the Teavana Citrus Green Tea Latte, a twist on the green tea latte that's been popular for a while. "Starbucks Green Tea Latte has been a popular beverage in Starbucks stores ever since we introduced it nine years ago," said Emily Fazio, whose team at Teavana develops teas for Starbucks drinks. "We took flavor cues from the green tea and paired it with ingredients like mint, lemon and basil to make it a refreshing and restorative experience."

So just because the holidays are over doesn't mean we won't have more seasonal drinks. And well, that's about as close to magic as you're going to get these days.
