The Hilmar High baseball team has had no problem scoring this season, scoring double-digit runs in all three of its wins as of Friday, March 15.
In a March 6 win over Gustine, the Yellowjackets tallied a season-high 10 hits and had three players finish with three RBI.
The pitching was just as good. Starter Ricky Gray went the full five innings, recording nine strikeouts while allowing just two hits, and one earned run to lead Hilmar to a 15-2 win in his first start this season.
The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Bee’s Boys Player of the Week.
Gray earned 33% of the votes in the weekly poll. He finished first ahead of baseball players Alex Avila of Big Valley Christian and Ripon Christian’s Josh Buffalow, who came in second and third, respectively.
