Stanislaus County tackles Hells Angels motorcycle gang

(FOX40.COM) — A large-scale law enforcement operation focused on outlaw motorcycle gangs in Stanislaus County is underway on Wednesday, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency, along with a California Highway Patrol SWAT Team, raided a Hells Angels building around 7 a.m. A FOX40 News Team member said they didn’t see officers take anyone out in handcuffs, but they did see officers take boxes inside the building.

The operation wrapped up around noon and since then, contractors have worked to clean up the broken glass. But the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office says this is only one of the multiple locations where they had agencies serving search warrants today.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said the investigation is a joint operation with numerous law enforcement agencies in and around Stanislaus County that are looking into outlaw motorcycle gang members.

A CHP Valley Division spokesperson says their SWAT vehicle and team were at the scene on Wednesday assisting in that investigation.

Michael Gomez, who works about 2 blocks from the Hells Angels building, says it is a surprise.

“It’s pretty extreme,” Gomez said. “Especially now that as you can see it’s getting a lot nicer here little by little… so it’s too bad that something has to happen like this and the place was trying to build itself up.”

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office wouldn’t relay any more information about the other locations where they were serving search warrants for their officers’ safety, or why these search warrants were being conducted.

A few men were coming in and out as they worked to clean up the debris around the Hells Angels building, but they did not want to comment on the raid.

The sheriff’s office said their Special Investigations Unit will continue working with several law enforcement agencies across Stanislaus County on the operation.
