Stanislaus County Office of Education seeks to appoint temporary board member

The Stanislaus County Office of Education seeks applicants to temporarily fill the Area 3 trustee seat on the Board of Education. The board will decide on an applicant May 21 and the person will fill the position until replaced after the general election in November.

The candidate who wins the election in November will serve the position for four years.

To request a digital application, community members can email vescobar@stancoe.org. Printed applications are also available at the Stanislaus County Office of education. Those interested must submit applications by Monday, May 13, at noon.

To be eligible, an applicant must be a registered voter in Stanislaus County, live in Trustee Area 3 boundaries, be 18 or older and not be employed by SCOE or any school district in Stanislaus County.

Trustee Area 3 comprises portions of these school districts: Hart-Ransom Union, Modesto City Schools, Patterson Joint Unified, Paradise Elementary, Salida Union, Shiloh Elementary, Stanislaus Union, and Sylvan Union.

The seat was held by Kimberly Spina, who was elected in 2020 but has stepped down “due to personal reasons and responsibilities,” according to SCOE.

The board plans to review the applications, interview eligible candidates and make the provisional appointment at a special board meeting on May 21 at 9:30 a.m.
