Stands cleared at Darlington baseball game after shots fired nearby, police say

DARLINGTON, S.C. (WBTW) — The stands at a baseball game were cleared after shots were fired Monday night near the game in Darlington, police said.

No one was hurt in the incident, and a school resource officer cleared the stands as a precaution, Police Chief Jimmy Davis said. Darlington’s game against Wilson High School was stopped after the incident.

An investigation revealed that the gunshots came from Plum Street, which is not in the city police department’s jurisdiction. The shooting is being investigated by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

News13 has reached out to the sheriff’s office to get additional information but has not heard anything back yet.
