Who Was Standing Their Ground in the Trayvon Martin Shooting?

It was exactly one month ago that George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin, and so we decided to pick a comment somewhat at random out of our most active thread of the day. Without further ado, this is from Edward E.:

Even if Zimmerman's version of this part of the events were true, a believable claim could be made that Martin was the one acting in self defense. He had a man a decade older and much larger following him at night with a gun, and they were alone. If anyone were 'standing their ground' in this version of events, it was Trayvon Martin.

We thought it was provocative at first, but no one's responded yet.
