Stafford man arrested in connection to fatal shooting during car meetup, police say

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting that happened at a car meet early Sunday morning.

At about 1:45 a.m., PGPD responded to the meetup at a shopping center parking lot in the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike.

Officers found two people had been shot there.

They found 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf in a car suffering from gunshot wounds. He died a short time later.

The second man who was shot had non-life-threatening.

On Wednesday, police said they arrested and charged 22-year-old Raheem Adams of Stafford, Va. with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree attempted murder and other related charges.
