Staff raise thousands for hospital in half marathon
A group of runners from the NHS has raised thousands of pounds to support patients in their city's hospital.
Brothers Deepak and Pardeep Chand, Suzanne Giles and Michelle Wilding raised more than £3,000 by running in the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
The funds will go to the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) Charity.
The trust, dubbing the group "The Fab Four", said it was "proud of their achievement and grateful for all the money they have raised".
Staff nurse Suzanne Giles welcomed the support of the crowd during the event while senior sister Michelle Wilding also enjoyed the entertainment along the way.
"The sense of achievement I felt when I crossed that finish line was amazing and made it all worth it," she added.
Cardiology manager Deepak Chand said he had run while feeling unwell so "was struggling from mile one".
His brother Pardeep added the run had given him confidence to try another half marathon.
Fundraising officer Amie Rogers said: “The money raised will help provide for things over and above what the NHS is able to deliver and help us create the best experience possible for patients and their families.”
