Stabbing suspect waives right to speedy trial

May 17—LIMA — A Mansfield man involved in a stabbing in March waived his constitutional right to a speedy trial at a pretrial hearing on Thursday.

Rocky Hayner, 30, was indicted on one count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and two counts of felonious assault, second-degree felonies, for a stabbing that occurred at 1508 E. Fourth St. in Lima on March 5. On that day, Lima police officers found a man at the house who had multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital and listed in serious but stable condition.

The final pretrial hearing is set for Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. and a jury trial is scheduled for Sept. 23 at 8:45 a.m.
