Stabbing suspect ordered to state hospital

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A judge on Wednesday ordered a man sent to a state hospital for treatment after he was found not competent to stand trial on charges of attempted murder and assault.

Andy Burgos Garcia was arrested March 11 after a man was stabbed in the 100 block of Morrison Street, west of North Stine Road and north of Brundage Lane. The man survived.

Last month, criminal proceedings were suspended after Garcia was ruled incompetent. Efforts will be made to restore him to competency.
