St. Pete Beach to vote on expanding TradeWinds resort

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — More developers are looking to get the greenlight from St. Pete Beach commissioners on another plan to add hundreds of hotel rooms to a popular resort.

However, many residents are voicing their concerns about the crowds that could come with it.

Commissioners are expected to vote on a $500 million proposal to expand the TradeWinds Island Resort.

The plan would add more than 600 hotel rooms in a series of four phases over 20 years.

“When you start having overcrowding you start to have conflict,” John Kurzman said.

In February, the city commission approved a plan to construct two new waterfront hotels on the Sirata Beach Resort property.

As of 11 p.m., commissioners had not yet voted.
