St. Louis police, MSHP issue 155 tickets during I-70 enforcement event

ST. LOUIS – Authorities issued 155 tickets during an Interstate 70 enforcement initiative Thursday in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department teamed up with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for a self-described “joint speed enforcement saturation” effort on Thursday.

Officers and troopers handed out 155 tickets for violations that stemmed from 79 traffic stops. Police say all but seven of those traffic stops led to citations for speeding.

Police did not disclose how many of these traffic stops, if any, might have led to arrests.

For SLMPD, this was the department’s second enforcement event in three days. St. Louis police were also involved in a high-visibility traffic enforcement initiative on Tuesday, leading to nearly 200 tickets.

SLMPD says it will continue various enforcement efforts throughout various parts of the city.
