St. Louis could see Easter storms, followed by severe weather threats Monday

ST. LOUIS – Storms are looking more likely in the St. Louis region this Easter weekend, and the FOX 2 weather team is keeping a close eye on the potential for severe weather threats just after the holiday.

The biggest severe weather threats over the next several days could come Monday afternoon into the evening hours. Hail, winds and even a few tornadoes are all possible.

Conditions this weekend will likely pave the way to showers and storms, some on Easter Sunday and more intense systems on Monday.

Saturday will bring a mix of clouds and sun with temperatures once again in the 70s.  There is a small chance for small thundershowers Saturday night as a surge of moisture kicks in from the south. Those thundershowers will lift north of Interstate 70 by Sunday morning.

Much of Easter Sunday still looks dry, breezy and warm with highs in the 70s. Easter Sunday will also be noticeably more humid. A much stronger weather system will form Sunday night into Monday, bringing several clusters of strong to severe storms to the St. Louis region.

The greatest concern for severe storms will be Monday afternoon into Monday night. The highest risk for severe weather is setting up near and south of Interstate 70 for Monday evening and Monday night.

In addition to the stormy weather, some locally heavy rain will be possible as well. Much cooler weather will sweep in for Tuesday and Wednesday next week as the storms disappear.
