St. Joseph High School senior wins statewide FFA award

ST. JOSEPH, Ill. (WCIA) — For the first time in 40 years, a student from St. Joseph-Ogden High School is being recognized for a statewide award.

Senior Cole Pruitt won the FFA Proficiency award. Pruitt was the winner in the Agriculture Mechanics Repair and Maintenance placement. He works at the St. Joseph-Ogden Fire Protection District and is going to Parkland College to get his EMT license.

He hopes this will inspire others to be active in their community.

“It’s pretty cool, I’m not going to lie,” Pruitt said. “It’s cool to know that I’ve left somewhat of an impact here in the FFA. St. Joe through the presidency that I just came back from in March. And then now that I’ve won an award that hopefully somebody else can be inspired from.”

Pruitt will be competing for the national-level award in June.
