Squid Game season 2 gets specific release window

The second season of Squid Game now has its specific release window, with fans not having to wait too much longer.
The South Korean dystopian-drama took the world by storm in 2021, but fans have been left wanting as the follow-up has taken quite some time to materialise.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is now gearing up to release the second instalment in the second half of 2024, though a specific month and date is yet to be announced.

Despite much anticipation, plot details for the second season remain scarce, though lead star Lee Jung-jae did previously tease that creator Hwang Dong-hyuk was preparing a "great story".
“I'm in constant and continuous talks with the production company about season 2, but I try not to talk to the director too much,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Because like you said, the creative process is really intense for him, and now with the added pressure of the show's global success, I know he must be going through such a hard time.
“So I don't want to be another factor adding to the pain of the creative process, which I know so well from my own writing experience. But I have total faith that he will write a great story for season two, and I wait in anticipation with everyone else.”
Since the airing of the first season, the franchise aired its reality spin-off show, Squid Game: The Challenge, which saw 456 players compete in a series of challenges inspired by the show, with the victor claiming $4.56 million.

The spin-off has already been greenlit for a second season, though executive producers John Hay and Stephen Lambert did admit that they were waiting on the second season of the main show before finalising their plans.
“It's very early days,” Lambert told Entertainment Weekly. “Also, we need to talk to the Korean team about what they're planning to do for their second scripted season. One of the things that will make it better is just allowing ourselves a deliberate pause and the chance to take in some of that viewer response before we go again.”
Squid Game season 2 will air on Netflix later this year.
