Square Shopping Center burglary suspect arrested by Novato PD

(KRON) — A man who allegedly broke into two businesses at the Square Shopping Center in Novato last week was arrested Friday. According to the Novato Police Department, police responded to the shopping center regarding two businesses that had been broken into the night before.

The businesses, FBI Burgers and Marin Fitness, had both been victims of a burglary. A man walking through the two businesses with a crowbar was caught on surveillance camera. The man, police said, stole cash registers, safes and other property.

A few hours later, NPD got a call from the San Pablo Police Department in Contra Costa County. A stolen car had been pulled over by San Pablo PD. Officers found items belonging to FBI Burgers and Marin Fitness during the investigation.

NPD detectives went to San Pablo to get evidence and spoke to the driver who’d been pulled over. He was identified as Paul Amey Jr., 42, of Hercules. Amey was arrested on two counts of burglary, identity theft, and providing police with a fake name.

After Amey was booked into Marin County Jail, police returned the stolen items to FBI Burger and Marin Fitness.
